Yeed began in Whangārei with friends Kylie and Ian, chasing fresher, more varied microgreens for everyday meals. When we couldn’t find them, we started growing our own. We keep it simple: quality seed, clean media, filtered water, no sprays. Harvested to order, chilled fast and delivered locally so your greens land crisp.

Kylie

As a busy parent of four, I found myself constantly looking for simple ways to add more nutrition into our family’s meals. I wanted to give my kids and myself a natural boost of vitamins and minerals—whether in our sandwiches, our breakfasts, or our dinners.

But I quickly noticed that the variety of microgreens in local supermarkets just wasn’t there. That’s how our microgreens business was born. We started growing our own vibrant, nutritious microgreens right at home, making it easy for other families like ours to enjoy fresh, healthy superfoods in their daily meals.

Ian

Our microgreens journey is also enriched by the passion of Ian, who brings decades of gardening experience and a deep love for growing food.

As a semi-retired gardening enthusiast, he’s always found joy in nurturing plants and watching them thrive. Now, he’s excited to channel that lifelong passion into something that gives back to our community. He joined the business with a mission to help families and kids discover the benefits of fresh, home-grown microgreens. His experience and heart for gardening are a huge part of why we’re able to offer such a special product. Together, we’re not just growing greens—we’re growing a healthier, more vibrant community.

How we grow

We keep things simple and clean so the greens do the talking. Quality seed, clean growing media and filtered water in a controlled indoor set-up here in Whangārei. No sprays. Light, airflow and temperature are tuned for flavour and consistency.

  • Clean methods: Sanitised trays, food-grade benches and tidy workflows from seeding to harvest.

  • Controlled environment: Stable light and temperature for even growth year-round.

  • Harvested to order: Cut at peak, chilled straight away, then packed so they land crisp.

  • Local and low-waste: Short delivery runs, recyclable packaging, and offcuts composted.

  • Traceable batches: We track each grow so quality stays on point.
